About me
Hi, I'm Ben.
I'm the owner of Walking With Jerry, and first and foremost, I'm a lifelong dog lover.
Like many owners, I know that dogs are so much more than pets-they're family. They're there through life's highs and lows, always ready to greet you with a wagging tail and unconditional love. That's exactly why I started Walking With Jerry.
The business was founded in memory of my late dog, Jerry, who changed my life in more ways than I'll ever be able to put into words. Losing him was incredibly difficult, but his legacy inspired me to create something meaningful-a business built on the same love, loyalty and trust that he gave me every single day.
Every walk I provide is a way of honouring his memory, and every dog I care for is treated with the same kindness, patience and respect that I would have wanted for Jerry.
More Than Just Dog Walking
For me, this has never been about simply clipping on a lead and heading out for an hour.
Every dog has their own personality, energy levels and routine. Some love exploring every inch of the woods, while others are happiest taking life at a slower pace. My job is to understand those differences and provide walks that are safe, enjoyable and tailored to each individual dog.
Building trust is just as important as building confidence. I want every owner to feel completely comfortable knowing their dog is being cared for as if they were one of my own.
My Background
Before starting Walking With Jerry, I spent over 12 years involved in martial arts as both a competitor and coach.
Martial arts taught me discipline, consistency and accountability-qualities that I now bring into my business every single day. One lesson has always stuck with me:
"If you don't show up, you don't succeed."
That mindset means being dependable, keeping my commitments and always providing the highest standard of care for both dogs and their owners.
It also helps that I live an active lifestyle, allowing me to keep up with energetic dogs who love adventure, exercise and exploring the outdoors.
Qualified to Care
While a genuine love for dogs is essential, I believe it should always be supported by professional knowledge and training.
To ensure every dog receives the safest and highest standard of care, I've invested in recognised qualifications, including:
-
Certified in Canine Handling & Understanding Communication
-
Level 3 Pet First Aid for Pet Professionals
-
Fully insured
-
DBS checked
I also have experience caring for senior dogs, supporting dogs with individual needs and administering medication when required.
You'll find copies of my qualifications and certificates below, giving you complete confidence that your dog is in capable and qualified hands.
